Bushwick Feeding Frenzy
“A Bushwick take on a classic Parisian bistro (that means there’s a DJ), this cozy new spot combines classic French fare (escargot, moules frites) with some American and Italian touches (a Sunday lasagna special with fresh New York State ricotta), and excellent cocktails (The Bushwick Sour combines rye with grapefruit, lemon and a splash of red wine).”
Jazz & Absinthe Tuesdays at Mominette
“Romance was in the air last Tuesday night at Bushwick’s French bistro, Mominette, with dim lighting bouncing off the warm, orange-y walls. Tim Bern was playing jazz–it was jazz night, after all. Jazz and absinthe night, that is. DJ Tim, a New Zealand native and part owner of Mominette, just thought the two went well together.”
Brooklyn’s French Bistro Boom
“Definitively the most Brooklyn-y of the restaurants on this list, this Bushwick bistro had us at jazz and absinthe Tuesdays. Is there anywhere else in Brooklyn where you can groove to a DJ in the front room, play a little bocce out back, nibble some beef bourguignon, then sip on a cocktail of bourbon, cherry bitters and housemade mango puree? Okay you’re right, there are probably 12 other places in Brooklyn where you can do all of that, but still, Mominette is a special spot.”
Mominette is Bushwick’s Best New Restaurant
“…the restaurant is here to stay, with its classic furnishings, romantic atmosphere, friendly staff, and fantastic food. From perfecting French staples like Escargot and Creme Brulee to simply nailing Mac'N'Cheese, Mominette is without a doubt Bushwick's Best New Restaurant.”

The Bushwick Mixer: Bushwick Sour from Mominette
“Mominette offers us the Bushwick Sour, with a foundation of grapefruit juice and lemon juice, topped with Pinot Noir. I have to confess that I was quite wary at first. I am not a whiskey drinker, nor do I believe that mixing wine with liquor is a good idea. Once I tasted it, I changed my tune.”
Free Booze and Jazz Jamming at Mominette Tomorrow Night!
“Mominette, the French bistro on Knickerbocker Ave, has wisely decided to capitalize on the weird, vibrant energy that pervades that section of the block by introducing a Tuesday night Jazz Jam. You already know that we love their snails and the ambience of this fine establishment. By adding a weekly jazzajamathon to their already deluxe vibe, they've certainly captured our attention once again!”
Bushwick Cuisine, Michelin Approved
“The waitstaff are friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. The cocktail list is chock full of strange, whimsical flavors (definitely try the Bushwick Sour!). The crème brûlée has a flower on it. We asked one of the owners, Steven Mark Sciacca, to pick an important dish that he felt might’ve attracted the attention of the Michelin critics. He demurred, saying, “I can’t choose among our dishes. It’s like asking me about my two bulldogs or my cat Bebe. I love them all.”
Bushwick Officially Lands on Foodie Map With Michelin Guide Listings
“Between the Morgan and Jefferson stops we now have eight restaurants in the guide," noted Bob Murray, who founded Bushwick Restaurant Week this summer. "That’s huge...This is like the be-all-end-all guide for restaurants around the world. The Vietnamese restaurant Falansai, the French bistro Mominette, the eclectic eatery Dear Bushwick and the addition to Roberta's pizza Blanca — all of which have opened in the last year — landed in this year's guide of recommended city spots. Also on the list were the more established Northeast Kingdom, El Mio Cid and Roberta's.”
Florent Morellet Revels In A New Scene In Bushwick
“Mominette, a nearly year-old bistro on Knickerbocker Street, has become Mr. Morellet’s new favorite spot. The garden is an oasis, the beef bourguignon comforting and the “Jazz and Absinthe Tuesdays” buzzing. He wandered in one day and met one of the owners, Tim Bern, 30, a straight-talking musician from New Zealand. Another owner was an old friend — the pastry chef Jean Pierre Marquet, 58, with whom Mr. Morellet worked at La Gamelle, a SoHo restaurant, in the early ’80s.”
